Navigation GPS map and firmware updates for Saab 9-5 NG

Update E800 carried out at weekend by Saabtec in Glossop and has worked. Hope it sticks. Happy days.

Just noticed that on my screen the firmware version is E508. Is that the same as the new E500, or is there a difference?
Or, has somebody updated it to the last version previously?

New version is E800. May have been updated before purchase.

Sorry, was not very accurate here. Can I upgrade directly from E508 to E800, or do I need to download some "in-between" firmware?

As far as I am aware all updates are cumulative. So there would not be any need to load the in-between versions.

Looking at navigation.com now, searching for new maps for Opel Ampera, and indicating having an awesome Opel Ampera 2015 model, I can purchase an updated map for 2017 !!!: NAVI 950 IntelliLink EUR/RUS/TUR - Version 2017.
I was told to put in 2013 Opel Ampera when searching for an update, but getting the offer for an out-of date 2013 version for 200 Brexit Pounds, is just so far-fetched!!!! Is it an option to buy the USB stick for the NAVI 950 IntelliLink EUR/RUS/TUR - Version 2017, and try to use this, or is the Ampera 2014 and 2015 model Amperas just equipped with a much better navi system, not compatible with the Saab system??

Difficult call - need to know if the USB stick would read and if they compatible. A bit too dear to get it wrong!

But if it is possible to update the firmware to E800 from a USB stick, why should it be impossible to update the map from a USB stick? Or is the hardware different? What is the navigation system in a Saab 9-5 NG 2012 model?
