    Headlight Restoration

    Hey, everyone!

Wondering if anyone has used any kind of headlight restoration kits on their hazy, cloudy headlights. Any success stories or warnings? Thanks!

As a follow-up to Franks post, a fellow Saab owner that I know recommends using the lense guards sold on stateofnine.com as it really seems to prevent any further fading/chalking after you've done the restore product.

Thanks for that! Great job, too. Looks really good. Would it be more difficult to remove the headlight to polish it or remove the corner light like you did?

To pull the whole lamp out, you need to at the very least loosen the whole bumper cover or just straight up take it off which is kind of a pain with those pop-up headlamp washer jets. Probably better to just pop the corner lamp out.

Had my headlights cleaned up recently. I had taken car to body repair shop due to a 4 car fender-bender (not my fault, and all expenses were paid by the other driver's insurance co.). The shop offered to clean up the headlight lenses.!

Basically any restoration kit or clear plastic rubbing compound will work. There is no need to remove the headlights. There is no need for any tools. Just use a clean rag or one of those blue paper towels they sell in car stores and apply the product liberally. Just make sure you wipe off the surrounding painted surfaces when you are done. You don't even need masking tape or anything as long as you wipe everything off while it is wet. No matter what you end up using it's not going to last forever. You lights will start getting hazy again sooner or later. I do my headlights maybe once a month and I am very happy with the results. Takes only 5 minutes and definitely gives your car a fresh look.
