What is the future of Saab?

To me, they are in a coma. They have awakened a few brief times (made a few cars) but are asleep now. I hope they wake up soon. The longer they are shut down, the worse it is.

Still, a coma is better than dead. At least, there is some warranty support and most parts.

    Sorry for being so pessimistic.

It's difficult to be optimistic these days. But... as long as the lights are still on in Trollhattan, I have faith in a future for Saab. Even if the worst thing happens, I think the brand will still live on in one way or another. The cars, history and great people are still going to live on for many years to come. All we can do is hope for the best.

The deal with Youngman and Pangda is over. Hopefully, Saab will be able to keep some of the money. Hopefully, prepayment of for a few thousand cars is non-refundable and they got a few million upfront. Maybe the American company who did a bridge loan might be able to throw some money to restart production.

If not, Frank's (above) assessment of the brand living on one way or another will hopefully be true. Maybe it will be like Peugeot in the US. I still see a few Peugeot 505 cars around and driving on the street. I also saw some 1980 Rover 3500 cars on the street until at least 1992. Both of these car companies left the U.S.

Why can't Lotus and Saab collaborate. Lotus is owned by Proton, which is a Malaysian car company.
