P0335 Code (Crankshaft Position Sensor): Advice Needed

My wife's car died 2 times today when she was sitting in traffic. She let the car sit for a few minutes and it started right up. It seems to "ping" quite a bit upon acceleration. The driving power seems good. I put the OBD-II on the car and I got the PO335 code.
I would appreciate any help or comments if the Crankshaft Position Sensor is faulty. Could it be some other component? I don't want to automatically just replace the sensor.

The only things I would suggest to check are the spark plugs and the DIC. Neither will normally give you a check engine code other than misfire (I think it's P0445, but could be wrong). The only way to really check the DIC is to put it in another car, or put another one in you car. Other than that, I would guess it is the CPS.

Definitely sounds like a crank sensor to me.

Probably wouldn't hurt to check the DI and plus depending on age/mileage.

Shazam, P0300s are misfire related, P0455 are EVAP leak related.
