    Red triangle+ABS light 1998 NG900 SE

Friend of mine called and said the ABS light and red triangle popped up on his dash. He said it still ran perfectly fine. I immediately thought of the ABS sensors. Do those set off the red triangle?

I told him not to drive it until we can it checked out.

Anything with the brakes typically triggers the triangle. I would suspect it's fine to drive, as long as he knows not to expect the ABS to function. Of course, I would double check the brakes and make sure they function properly (knowing the ABS probably won't), before going out and about in the car.

That's what I was thinking, but I'd feel better taking a look at it first and just make sure it didn't leak all of the fluid out or something. He's not a big car guy so I may not have gotten the whole story.

If he is leaking fluid, he should hopefully get the regular "brake warning light." It looks just like the ABS one, but it has a big "!" in it instead of the letters "ABS." Its triggered by a low brake fluid in the reservoir.
