my insurance paid 77€ to repair the scratch in the windshield. I prefer repair than a new one for ecological reasons and the genuine windshield always is better than the new one.
in the Opel Signum the cost was about 600€ for a new windshield.

The Saab 9-5 OEM Sekurit windshield really isn't very good quality. They are infamous for showing a lot of pits and marks which make it difficult to see out of at night and in bright sunlight. Mine was actually still pretty good at 80K miles but was showing scratches left by a bad windshield wiper.

The rain sensor unit is attached to a plastic bracket on the windshield. I think new windshields may already have this bracket attached so it looks like it is just a matter of snapping it in. But I am not sure about that. We haven't had any rain since the new windshield was installed so I can't tell for sure if it works ok.
