    Oil neck filler leak (Pics)

Trying to fix one of the many oil leaks. We came across oil coming out of the oil fill neck. Has anyone ever had this issue? We tried removing the neck but found no way to. It seems like I would have to replace the whole cover. Is there a part number for the filler and can it be removed? Its a 1999 9-5 SE V6.

Looks like rubber or plastic on metal, maybe there is some kind of sealant between the two surfaces that has come loose. I would try removing it, cleaning both surfaces real well and then installing it with some gasket maker or other similar type of sealant.

I found the part number for the (Oil Trap) its 4899522. Instead of replacing the whole valve cover like i thought. You would only have to replace that plastic piece which comes with a O-ring. You have to remove the ignition cassette and valve cover to remove the oil trap properly. Here are some pictures from installing it today.

Here is a picture of the oil trap and part number.

Here is a picture of the new and worn O-ring it cracked when i removed it.

This is the oil trap installed into the valve cover its held by a clip.

And this is a comparison of the old and new see the clip broke when i removed it due to the heat.

Kontr4Band i'm trying to replace the valve cover gasket but can't seem to get the cover off because of the oil dip stick tube and an engine bracket. Do I have to remove those to free it up on my 1999 9-5 SE V6?

I ended up bending the engine mount bracket away from the valve cover just a little and I simply pulled out the oil dip stick. This gave us the space we needed to remove the front cover, let me know if this helps...

    Thanks!

Thanks man that worked. I just used a rubber mallet but I still had to bend the oil dip stick tube as well.

Hello Kontr4band, I have a similar yet not so bad lead from the base of the filler tube. Do you have to replace the entire filler tube or can you just replace the o-ring to get a good seal?

I have the same problem with the filler tube. How do I remove the filler tube? Any pictures to show how would be great. Thanks,

I did look it up at one point but decided on a quick fix since the crankcase peresures are low. Cleaned with acetone, ran a bead of silicone around the joint and tapped with gorilla duct tape. It's been ok for over a year now.
