When replacing the shift selector cable on the automatic transmission-do you put the selector in neutral or park when adjusting ?
Thanks

From the WIS, pertaining to MY1998:
"Checking and adjustment, selector lever cable
1. Check that the play in the selector lever is the same in position N as in position D. If it is not, adjust the cable as follows.
2. Move the selector lever to position P (inside the car).
3. Lift up the cable adjustment clasp.
4. Move the selector lever to position P.
5. Roll the car until the P interlock engages.
6. Press the selector lever (in the car) backwards and press down the adjustment clasp so that it locks the cable ferrule.
Note
There is play in position P (inside the car). Press the
selector lever backwards while pressing down the
clasp.
7. Make sure the play in position N and D is the same."
Good luck
