dipstick ends
Anyone know why Saab made the ends of the dipsticks for the engine and trans from black plastic (nylon 66, based on the embossing on the part) instead either (a) metal, or, (b) another color.? Are alternatives available ?

I tried using some sand paper to roughen up the tip so it would be easier to see the oil level but that didn't do much.
There is one available with a grey tip: 55557302 Aftermarket - Engine Dipstick - Light Gray Tip - Proparts 21347302 - Free Shipping Good deal for only $8.

I was thinking of painting mine. I'm just to lazy to clean it properly first. I find using a rag to grab the end and then open the rag to see ware the oil level is works fine. No wipe involved. Just wrap the rag around the end and see ware the oil is on the rag before you remove the dip stick.
