Alternator Removal - Top or Bottom? Pros & Cons

Hello,

I have to replace my alternator on my 2001 Saab 9-5 3.0 V6. I've read the WIS which shows removal from the bottom of the car and also reviewed the online tutorial in this forum that shows removal from the top.

I would like to know the pros and cons of each method.

Any info would be appreciated.

Decided to go at it from the bottom. Real PITA to get aftermarket replacement alternator out. Wound up releasing the motor mount at the top and lowering the engine to get clearance (after removing back cover on alternator). Bosch replacement was a little smaller so installation went smoother.
