Suddenly no voltage at Fuel pump

    Hello guys,

I've been doing some cosmetic work on my 1990 SAAB 900i for a couple of weeks now. It's been sitting in my garage but occasionally I'll start it up and let it run for a bit to keep the battery OK.
Last tuesday, I ran it for about 10min without any problems, started right up. But thursday, the fuel pump wouldn't go. After some fiddling with the ignition key I hear it buzz for about a second but no more ever since.

I measure no voltage at the pump when trying to start.
Checked the fuses and the relais, which works just fine. (I tested it in the signal horn socket)
Just to be sure, this is the fuel pump relais, right?

Is there something else that could cause this kind of sudden loss of voltage?

    Thanks in advance.

The fuel pump relay and fuse are in the fuse box. Check the fuse. The pump running will depend on the system you have in the car. In a Lucas system the pump will only run for a few second when you turn the ignition on until you start the engine. In the Bosch it needs to see a tach signal before it runs.

Interesting Mike. Mine is in the fuse box. I suppose it depends on the territory and where Belgium is.
