From sunny FL: 2005 Saab 9-3 Aero Convertible
Hi there! I'm new to the forum and happy to know about it. I have had my 2005 Saab Aero 9-3 convertible since 2007. It is my dream car and has just 32,000 miles on it. It's that great metallic yellow-green color. I love the car but it's starting to have a lot of problems. I don't want to get rid of it so I'm hoping to gain some knowledge in the forums here. My big issues are 1) electrical and 2) the convertible top needs replacing (it is leaking very badly) and I'm told it will cost $1800. I've just posted in the thread about the electrical problems, which seem to be getting worse and more frequent.
Because of the roof leak, I garage the car during our super hot and rainy summer season and drive it only in our wintertime when it is dry and the weather is nicer. This works out well enough. One day I'll get the top replaced, but only if I can fix the electrical issues. I was sad to learn that this wonderful car would only have a trade-in value these days of about $7200.

Hello,
First, is the top leaking because of damage (ie holes, tears, etc.)? If the top material is in decent condition, check out videos on YouTube about waterproofing the top material (sort of like Scotchguarding it). The original chemical treatments disappear with age and can significantly reduce the water resistance of the top. Easily rectified with the proper treatment, and can restore your ability to drive the car in inclement weather! Anyway, good luck!
