MY'06 intake vs whats used on the '04 & '05 models
Earlier today I was reading in Edmunds reviews of the MY'04, 05 and '06 ( see links here: 2006 Saab 9-5 Wagon Review | Edmunds.com ) that : "A revised intake results in 10 extra horsepower for a total of 260."
It may be that whatever this modification is applies only to the AERO version, but, Anyone know what exactly was changed which yields an extra 10 hp? and if it's a "bolt on" mod. whether it can be put on the Linear & Arc models.

i think this might refer to the size of the air intake pipe on the turbo
reading about it a few months ago, i also considered this as a nice passive performance improver that wouldnt add strain on the engine for my 04 linear. basically it helps the turbo breath better, without any changes to the engine electronic ignition/timing control
The air intake pipe mounted on the compressor housing restricts air flow on
high power Saab's, especially on the first series of 9-5 Saab's the air
intake pipe had a rather small diameter.
9-5's from a few years later had a larger diameter air intake pipe allowing the engine to take in
more air. In the year '06 Saab introduced 9-5 Aero's with 260 hp.
Saab fitted the larger air inlet pipe with a less restrictive lower
curve towards the turbo.
On the different Saab enthusiasts internet forums this air intake pipe has gotten the name "King Cobra".Space
is a limiting factor surrounding the turbo. To fit the King Cobra in
this limited space a different compressor housing was needed. The
compressor housing on '06 and onward 9-5's is 15 mm shorter I's
possible to switch a pre '06 compressor housing with a new smaller
housing to fit the King Cobra. All other parts of the turbo are exactly
similar. You only need to change the compressor housing.Last edited by silver2u; 14 June 2015 at 07:46.

Intakes and cams are all the same. Turbochargers I beleive were even the same from 2006-2009. Prior to that there was the LPT and the FPT cars. GT16 (LPT) and the TD04 (FPT)
