Oil collecting in spark plug wells.
While changing spark plugs, I find oil pooling in the wells. The oil is clean, but obviously used. The tips of the spark plugs does not evidence oil collecting or burning on the tips. There is no obvious evidence of any other oil leaking or spills in the engine compartment.
Any thoughts

Your valve cover is not tight or the gasket is shot. My guess is that it is only in need of tightening.

New valve cover gasket will sort it, it tends to get hard and brittle over time thus the oil leaks.

Do you have a link to the procedure to tighten or replace valve cover gasket for v6?

Just tighten them uniformly, not super tight in a circle pattern. Use some petroleum jelly to keep the gasket in the grooves when you go to mount the cover.

11ft/lbs is what I had my torque set to when I did this and that worked well.

Was that on a V6? Where did you get that setting?

Mine is the 4cyl 2.3, and I got the procedure from the shop manual I bought. Should be the same for the v6 though, valve covers are not meant to be overly tight, nice even pressure is what you want.

Thank you for the specificity. Any schematic, picture, description or pdf you could possibly provide of the valve cover or it's location (in regard to the spark plugs) would be greatly appreciated. This is my first foray into this generation of engine. The previous engines I worked on had their valve covers made out of stamped steel or cast alloy and on top of the engine.
Thanks
