Time For Service Reset

When the time for service indication comes up, is there any way to reset it without clearing all of the other trip data that gets cleared when you hold the clr button?

Hi Frank. Unfortunately, one must use a Tech2 to remove the service message, otherwise it is just press the clear key when starting the car, after 20-30 starts, the message disappears. 9-3 and 9-5 up to model year 2002-2003, press the Clear button for 3 seconds, release a second and then hold it for 8-10 seconds until the message cleard comes up on the display and a ping sounds.

Not true that the tech II is required. Have done it many times.

for 2006 - 2009 models.

1) Start the car
2) Time for service message pops up
3) Press the brakes and CLR button on steering wheel holding them for at least 8 seconds
4) You should see CLEARED after that (or SERVICE, forgot which one)

This can only be dome when the Time for Service message pops up. Other times it will not work

Actually this isn't true either. I know how to clear the message on my car, but I want to know if I can do it without resetting all of the trip settings. To clear on my car:

1) Turn Key to on position. You don't need to start the car.
2) Push CLR once briefly to clear "time for service" message
3) Press info button to get display on something other than DTE or Temp, if it isn't already.
4) Press and hold CLR button until one chime and "Cleared" message pops up, but Keep holding until "Service" is displayed
5) Time for Service message is now cleared

My question is whether this can be done without clearing all of the Trip Settings that are stored. Otherwise I can just wait until it is time for a fillup.

That's odd. The process you just explained sounds like for 2005 and below where the SID is not integrated with the speedo.

my trip settings does not reset when i perform the time for service reset.

Snapshot taken from WIS. Look at Manual Reset.

If you just ignore the message it goes away after a specific number of starts, can't remember how many. Otherwise press and hold the CLR button, no need to touch the brake pedal.
