My baby! :(
That dreaded moment for SAAB lovers: collision. Estimate is at $5000+, so it may get written off. The problem, as you all know, is finding a replacement. This car has been amazingly good to us over the past 3 years, even with its occasional electronic quirks. Wife also wants another SAAB. My insurance appraiser will be visiting the body shop tomorrow for the verdict.

Oh no!
It doesn't look too bad but repairs can add up quickly.
With the time and effort we put in maintaining and repairing our cars, it is often difficult to find a replacement using the replacement value from the insurance company. And especially Saabs as they are hard to find to begin with. Hopefully it's going to work out for you and your wife.

Insurance is offering me a $5,400 payout. On one hand, it's a bit better than I thought they would. But on the other, I feel like they can do $6,000. Am I asking for too much here?

How many miles are on it? $5,400 for a car that's 12-13 years old is not bad at all.

So... A replacement has been found. Mileage is high (250,000 Km), but the car is mint. Paid C$5,000 after taxes. I've looked all over southwestern Ontario, and this was the best bang for my buck. Was prepared to spend maybe $3-4k more, but none were in such good shape. I can use that money for future repairs, if necessary. She's getting a new battery, new complete brake job, and new fluids at the price.
