'05 9-5 Suspension question
Hello all. New to the SAAB world. Just purchased a 2005 9-5. 103000 miles. Very nice shape. From reading various posts concerning the SAAB suspension weakness, I would like some input on what can be swapped and the difficulty of doing a swap. My issue is when you go over a bump, it feels like the back end really has say too much 'wiggle' or sway to it. Was wondering if this is what everyone else experiences without an upgraded suspension. I see SAS ( 9-5 Front and Rear Sway Bar Kit )sells a sway bar kit. Was wondering if anyone replaced just the sway bar link at the ends, or if the entire kit is needed? Thanks.

There are rubber bushings holding the suspension on. Yours are probably done. Look on eeurpoarts.com and you will find a couple options. I'd go for the sport ones.

Kind of. Everything seems to be held together by rubber bushings... Here is a link to one kit. SAAB Subframe Bushing Kit - Front (Polyurethane) 61346923 - Proparts 61340000PU - Free Shipping
You can find other sway bar bushing kits online. Try ebay etc.
The poly ones are stiffer and give a little rougher ride. But the car sticks to the road...

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Are the bushings a fairly easy install or is it a shop job?

That depends on how mechanical you are. I would do it myself but I'm the kind of guy that rebuilt his 2.3T in my driveway. I wasn't afraid to buy a pickup truck with 3 wheels and repair it. (Yes the hood is not strait. I put it on by myself...)
If you are comfortable with lifting the car up and putting it on axle stands and getting under it while reefing on wrenches it won't be a problem.
If not leave it to the shop.

Thanks for the info. And nice looking truck too. I think I'll give this a try myself. The extent of my mechanics stops at (rotors, pads, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets etc... sort of minor stuff) I have not been under this SAAB yet, (2 weeks old to me) but I've got to get rid of that rear end wiggle. It wiggles more than my aunt Bertha, and she was a big lady. I guess the bushing locations will be pretty much self evident when I get under there? with a couple of bolts each? thanks a lot. Pretty heavy looking snow you got there too.
