    Question Banging noise

I'm the proud owner of a brand new used 2006 9-3 2.0t; with a 111,000 miles on it. Love the car, quirks and all. I have a question, the car rides great but I've been noticing that when it takes a bump there's like a banging noise, nothing too terrible, but irritating none the less. The suspension seems to handle the bumps well, it's just the noise that I would like to get rid of. Not sure what direction to take, so I humbly submit myself to the group and be guided by your wisdom Thanks

    Hi
It may help if you gave a little more information. What area does the noise come from, front, rear, drivers side, dull thud or metallic sound etc. It could be anything from a missing rubber off your exhaust, loose spare wheel in the boot, broken spring, worn engine mount.
    Cheers for now
    Dave

    Sorry bout that...
its a thud type of noise coming from the front end, sounds as if it's concentrated on the passenger side. Only happens when the car hits a bump or a pothole. The suspension seems to be fine, the car isn't bottming out. In fact most bumps and potholes hardly seem perceptible as far as suspension is concerned but they're always accompanied by the thud sound which is just annoying. Also there isn't any excessive vibration on start up and while driving. Just that THUD noise on bumps and potholes

I had a similar sound when I was hitting potholes/bumps. I ended up replacing my wheel bearings and it seemed to take care of the issue.

    Hi
In addition, I would check the stabilizer link. suspension drop link or anti-roll bar link (same part, but depends on your regional location area place thing) .
    OEM-13237130 .
Or item number 4 in the diagram in this link
    Speedparts Sweden - Front suspension

It's recommended both sides be replaced if one is found to be worn. and the passenger side would probably show first due to it being the near-side (the side near the road-side) . Generally the roughest area . they range from 10 to 25 or $14 to $34 each.
Also they're easier to fit and less expensive than bearings.
    Cheers for now
