new owner with broken spring
hi all
just purchased a 2004 9-3 arc convertible 115k miles and really like it so far.
had a front rattle when i got it home and found a broken front coil spring, what all other parts should i replace when changing the broken front springs.

I had same problem, took to a saab garage they said to just replace the spring and droplinks. Also the spring protectors that fit over the spring at the bottom to stop it bursting a tyre if it breaks. Hope that helps

I called a top saab parts company and they said just do springs and the rubber part that they sit on
Taking it to a garage and let them look before I order the parts

Only the rear springs sit on a rubber mounting, front springs are in a McPherson strut, you will only need springs and spring protector sleeves. If your drop links have not been done I would get these done as well, as these will cause a rattle with wear. top bearings might need replacing, but would be unusual according to my garage.

can the drop links be replaced later without taking the strut off

Drop links are just two bolts. One has to be undone anyway when removing the strut so you are already half way replacing them, and the drop links are in the 20 quid price range, so...
