9-3 Next Gen, How about 3D print?

    Hallo Saab Fans ond owners.

I'am a freelance designer. Since a short time I create products for 3D Printing, and use the website Shapeways to print them. I am a big fan of Saab cars and there actually one car, or better to say one sketch, that I completely felt in love with. That's the 9-3 next gen by Simon Padian.

First of all I want to ask you, as experts and knowers of Saab, did they stop this project only at a stage of these sketches? Or did they build a prototype?

Why I am asking this? That's because I would like to recreate the form of this car and print it as a scaled 3D model and make it availaible to buy on Shapeways. What do you guys think of that? Is it a good idea?

For an illustration I attached a 3D printed car as well.

As far as I know, this was the only prototype made so far based on the new Phoenix platform, designed by Castriota. Not sure who the designer was but most likely not Padian. Never understood why Muller hired Castriota for head designer when he had talent like Padian in house. Padian now works for Geely in Sweden.

    1999 9-3SE (2013-2015), 2005 9-3 (2005-2013), 1990 900 (1990-2003)
Munster, where the original poster is from, is where the Deutsches Panzermuseum (German Tank Museum) is located.

The bottom photo in the 1st post looks like a Saab minivan!

I wonder where that prototype is now? Maybe it was crushed and destroyed? If Saab did not stop production, the new Saab 900 might have come out as a 2014 model (2013 model was the original plan, I think, but delays are very plausible). If that were the case, I might be driving a new 2015 Saab 900 by now. Only if....
