Can a 93 B204E engine be used to replace a dead 93 B205E engine ?

Hi All,

I have a dead 2002 93 with a B205E engine. Can I fit a 93 B204E engine? What differences are there, both engines have auto transmissions. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest answer is, NO.
On paper and in theory it can be done.
B204E Saab 4 cylinder 2.0Ltr turbo petrol engine. Trionic engine control unit, auto transmission.
B205E Saab 4 cylinder 2.0Ltr turbo petrol engine. Trionic engine control unit, auto transmission.
In reality , the devil is in the detail.
B204E Trionic T5.5 and B205E is Trionic T7 (non-compatible)
You will need to make changes to the fuel injection, air induction cooling, oil cooling and circulation, water cooling and circulation, exhaust emission's, cam sensor and oil temp sensor (to name a few).
While bearing in mind that the 2002 93 has six different auto transmissions and do you need to up-grade the front coil springs for the heavier B204E engine, or does the lighter flywheel compensate
If you still decide to take that route, why not go the whole way and consider a supercharged 5.0Ltr V8 Mustang engine.
