B207E: PoLy V-belt 5pk1028 or 5PK1030 ???
Hello Forum members,
does anyone know for sure the exact circumference
of the outside poly V-belt used for a standard 1.8t B207E with Airco???
Because my Saab Original has a 5pk1028 on it.
Except my parts store wants to give me a 5PK1030 ????
To my knowledge those last 4 numbers are the measure of the outside size.
Because in these engines it is not so easily measured,
you cant reach at it, unless removing it, just to measure.
Does anyone has experience with this 2cm difference between 1028 and 1030,
will the tensioner be able to cope the additional length?
PLease some answers, thanx ;-?Everything is simple ,regarding time spend

Hi
It appears they are interchangeable.
If you scroll down the first link, to "Interchangeable Parts" the second brand is Gates.
click on details for Gates and it gives you some measurement details.
5PK1028,Metric Standard 5PK1028; Serpentine Belt
The link below you can put your car details in and up pops the 1030 one.
Gates | 5PK1030
Hope this helps.

5PK1028/1030 Length of the belts' outside circumference ???
---
Hey Dave,
thanx for the info yet.
That's also what the guy from the partsstore told me: that Gates uses different labels for (hopefully) the same sizes :-?
So they adviced a 5PK1030 as you.
My primary question was: do you / or someone know the exact Length of the belts' outside circumference???
Because otherwise, I first have once to dis-assemble mine just to measure it up.
And despite on those Saabs it isn't so easily done, seen how to reach it.
I want to avoid, starting such DIY job on a saturdays, buying a 5PK1030,
and than coming to the conclusion it ain't fits.
So I'd like to measure the 5PK1030 on the counter, before buying.
Because it can be that I only start replacing it, 3-4weeks after buying it. And they won't take it back in case of,...
I find strange that a big company as Gates, preclaims using different Labeling, as to international ???
To my knowledge the #1028 or #1030 part was the outside circumference in mm's. Like you have 10W40 for oil, is a standard.
So my initial question was: do you ? or someone else know the exact Length of the belts' outside circumference???
As to enable me to compare, prior to buying. Overhere the guy at the counter ain't so helpfull.
Best regards, Harry.Everything is simple ,regarding time spend

Hi
5PK1030=
Outside Circumference:1041.4mm
Top width:17.78mm
Ribs:5mm.
After doing a little fishing for details, am I correct that your Saab is2007 1.8t. If so the Saab part number for the belt is:12827647.
As you can see in the links below, there is a theme appearing.

We still don't know the official measurements, but I'm sure all willbe well with the 1030 belt, it seems quite popular.
Hope this helps.
