It's time to for you to tell The World.

    Greetings All
    Just a simple question.
What was the first record you can remember buying?I'll start the ball rolling. My first record was:

    C W Mc CALL - CONVOY.(on 7"Vinyl) https://70spop.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/cwmc45.jpeg

I think I went and saw the film about 9 times in one week.
Who knows, if we get enough replies , perhaps we could do a compilation to download and play in the car.

Dave, at least your music was quite recent! My first record was Dominique by The Singing Nun in the very early 1960's - (1963)

Nice and in French by a Belgian - obviously from THAT part of Belgium (ouch!!!)

I think mine was an Elvis Presley record and I can still remember the department store where I bought it. Must have been in the early 80s so quite a while ago. I can also remember the first CD of Al Stewart - Year of the Cat that I bought. CDs were just introduced at that time and quite expensive. But after records, those optical discs were amazing technology. No more cassette tapes for music in the car.

Frog Chorus by Paul McCartney. (1984/1985ish) 7inch single.
Music taste hasn't really got much better.
More things change. The more they stay the same.

Haven't seen that video or heard that song since... well, pretty much 1985.

So glad I was in my teens in the 80s because that was when all the good music was made.

No way Wulf. Best music was in the 60's - Beatles, Stones, Who. followed by the 70's - Led Zeppelin, Tull, ELP.
Your knowledge of cars is MUCh better than that of music

    Ready Steady on.
Wasn't it the eighties (8T's) that brought us such classics as:
    Black Lace's Aggado.
    Black Lace Superman
Bucks Fizz Making your mind up.
    Wham Last Christmas.
    Shakin Stevens Green Door.
That snowman one...Walking in the Air (Aled Jones).
    Bad Manners Lip up Fatty,
    Plus Many many more.....
Songs that had lyrics that actually meant something

Dave, my music from the 80's was my Alfasud Ti nipping through the country roads with an exhaust note that woke the Ford drivers!
As for lyrics - have you heard Moody Blues, Dylan, or Fleetwood Mac - none from the 80's.
You could also try the Bonzo Dog Band!
But my only favourite form the 80's was 'Gordon is a Moron' - can't remember who played it though.

Jilted John - Gordon is a moron. 1978.

1978 - I would of only been 12 . Music was the property of my two older sisters who had a portable radio/cassette player. BORING..
My world was full of trying to pull the longest ever wheelie on my Raleigh Chopper.
Mine was identical to this one.

And the six weeks school holiday lasted for years. Where as now, 6 years only takes a few months.
I think it's to do with the digital age. Analogue took much longer, it took twice as long to do 1 gallon, 1 litre now only takes half the time.
