HELP: What is this a picture of?
I just bought a '88 900 Turbo. I am having a stalling problem which the mechanic thinks is a vacuum leak issue. However while debugging he showed me a place where he feels a rat must have chewed off a wire. Unfortunately the mechanic doesn't know what the part is that the wire is connected to. Please help me identify it.
This is under the hood above the driver side wheel. The wire goes to the red item.

The "red item" is part of the cruise control system. If you look, you will see that it is connected to the vacuum motor by a vacuum line. That in turn, has a vacuum line that leads back to the interior. I don't believe this is connected to engine vacuum.
While I think your mechanic is perhaps on the right path with the vacuum leak idea, is he learning SAAB repair with your car?
