Rear passenger window removal of regulator which is riveted 2002 9-3 hatchback

My rear passenger window came off its track. I removed the inside of the door easily but came upon rivets not screws. Has anyone else experienced this? I don't have a tap to create screw holes to reconnect the regulator so I temporarily placed a piece of wood to hold the window up.

    Hi
I would say that almost all car doors have parts held in by rivets, perhaps because they tend not to come loose as much as screws or bolts.
Don't let them get the better of you.
Simply get a drill bit that's about the same size as the rivet head (or bigger), fire up the drill and take it's head clean off.
The centre of the rivet can then be pushed through, leaving the rivet hole the same size ready to accept a new rivet once the repair is done.
Rivet guns can be inexpensive, example .

And replacement rivets, such as these .

Can be purchased locally from shops similar to these 10 I found around NC.
Also found a video regarding the regulator assembly, it's on a 2004 model and I'm not too sure if they're alike.

Hope this is of some help.

    Thanks Dave,

I will gather up a rivet gun and rivets and get the window fixed.
