    Vacuum hoses

I have an 08 saab 9-5 2.3t. I have been having issues with it staying started initially. I have to hold my foot on the gas in order for it to get to a decent RPM otherwise it dies. I was told by my mechanic that I need to replace my vacuum hoses. The only ones I can find online are silicone and he says they will not work. What do I do!?
I have a baby due in less than two weeks and I need to get this fixed asap.
    Help?

Silicone swells in the presence of petroleum oils, so not a good choice. Use Standard vacuum tubing from the auto parts store. Most of the vacuum lines are hard plastic, however. You can buy those from www.thesaabsite.com or www.eeuroparts.com. I found a power brake line by doing a search when those two places were out of stock. You can also try eBay. Be really careful under the hood - the little plastic valves in the various lines get brittle and break easily and can not be repaired satisfactorily. I recently replaced all of the vac lines in my 2008.
    Good luck!

Well that's no Bueno. I replaced mine a couple of years ago with silicone. They seem to be holding up well but I guess I will have to add new hoses back to my never ending lists of Saab to dos.

If yours are holding up well, that's great! I replaced the PCV hoses in my 99 9-3 with silicone, and they swelled up within a month, and then kept sliding off the PCB nipple. Standard rubber hoses stay put. However, where the silicone is not subject to an oil bath, it should be fine. Lot of oil in the PCV vacuum; not much elsewhere.
