Too much heat by the feet!

    Hey guys,

I recently bought a 1999 saab 9-5 as a daily and ive liked it so far. Ive noticed that when im driving, Im getting good amount of heat coming from around my right foot. Ive also noticed that the engine seems pretty hot after running it (albeit it should be to hot to touch after running). My temp gauge reads perfect and I have no CEL or Transmission lights on my dash. No broken exhaust as far as I can hear or tell. No heat or forced air coming in either, so it not like the heater is broken and constantly running, plus i think the vent is on the left side or left foot side. Any ideas?

I've heard about similar things on older BMW's but not any Saab. You should be able to get any code off the AC/C unit by the reset/calibration (motor on, press both Auto and Off). It may be that the motors for the vent is busted or something with the heating/ACC system.

If it's the exhaust system I'd first inspect the firewall and engine bay to make sure no parts have fallen off or broken. But I think you'd notice other things than just heat if that was the case.

Oh and here's a link to the codes..

Thanks DanielZ Ill check it out, but i dont think its the ac or heater because the heat only starts when im accelerating. If im parked its cool but once i drive it heats up. Like i said i dont hear anything that sounds like its would be exhaust but we all know crazy things happen with carts so ill keep you updated.

Is the metal heat shield installed over the turbo?

Yeah the heat shield is still there, and I'm not getting any codes on the ac, but still getting heat. Ive pulled the carpet up and dont see anything that looks out of place.

Top side of the exhaust being corroded and wafting heat in that direction?

Not that I can tell. My exhaust feels and sounds like its pretty well sealed with no leaks. I do although hear a constant sound like a hissing that stops when i accelerate and when i press on the brakes. So many mystery issues that are not affecting the driving, but I def, dont appreciate heat on my pedal leg in the summer.
