I haven't heard of Primewell tires before. I did a quick search and it is a brand from Giti Tire, a company based in Malaysia. They started building a plant in SC in 2015. http://www.gtradial.com/global/News-...a-Center/10492

It can be a daunting task to shop for new tires. There are so many variables and one tire can be great on one car and not so good on an other. It also depends if you're looking for a performance tire with sticky handling that wears faster. Or perhaps comfort is more important and wear is not. Or a long life is important. And then there is price.

I usually buy tires from the bigger and well-known brands. I would not consider tires with low prices from not so well-known manufacturers in Asia. Tirerack is usually my main source for information and reviews. Keep an eye out for any promotions or sales. Discount Tire Direct is another good source and they often run sales as well.

When you find a tire you like online, you can check with your local tire shop to see if they can get the same for a similar price. If not, you can order online and have them shipped to an installer.

The last tires I bought were Dunlop Signature HP A/S and really liked them. They were quiet, provided good handling and didn't wear too fast. My review here: http://saabworld.net/showthread.php?t=31769

It looks like they have still have them available. $512 after mail-in rebate for a set of 4 including shipping.

Thanks much. I’ll check out those online resources. Don’t spend a lot of time on the road in my Saab. Commute is super short and I’m not a speed demon or distance driver in my Saab. Just need tires with a long life that are quiet and reliable. Have liked the Bridgestone Turanza W Serenity but they are pretty expensive and I’m not sure I need all that high-level road handling. Appreciate your recommendations.

The Pirelli P7 Cinturato is a popular touring tire and they were used on many new Saabs. I had alignment issues with my 9-5 but they held up pretty good. http://saabworld.net/showthread.php?t=28758

When comfort and long wear is important, a tire in the touring or grand touring category is probably what you want to look for.

I'll merge this thread with the main tire thread. Take a look at the previous posts for some more recommendations and experiences.

Walmart may be a good place to shop for tires as well.

Check out the Yokohama Avid Ascend. I had Yokohama tires before and really liked them as well. $410 for a set of 4 after mail-in rebate with free shipping is a good deal.

Continental PureContact also is a good choice. A bit more expensive but good tires.

Whoever said Dunlops are U.S. made, check out what my quick search found.
Dunlop Tires are well known throughout the world. The company is a partnership between two different companies, the Japanese company Sumitomo Rubber Industry owning twenty five percent, and the British company, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company owning seventy five percent. In the middle of the 1980’s, the British Tyre and Rubber Company, Ltd. took over the Dunlop company, and now it is the Sumintomo location in Japan which makes and markets the brand of Dunlop tires. While Sumitomo did not gain control of the company, they did enter into an agreement to include the brand name of Dunlop into their own corporate name about eleven years ago in 1997.

Laugh if you want, people have teased people over tire name choices for years. I remember when people were teased for buying yokohama's and I was teased for buying cheap crap cooper's.

I put Chinese tires on my car and would buy them again. I got a set of intenges? (not going out to garage to check spelling) from wallmart over a year ago. Directional tread tire meets speed and load range for my 06 Saab 9-3. Found on sale with internet search had delivered to and installed at local wallmart store. Set of four tires, tax, mounting, life time balance, extra road hazard warranty and old tire disposal charge $260.

Good summer highway and heavy rain driving tire, not enough ground clearance on the Saab to know how they handle deep snow. Best 2 inches of slush driving tires on the slippery highway.

I suppose it is a “you pay your money, you take your chances” situation. Nonetheless, the personal experiences and recommendations do lend some important perspective.

Same thing with getting on an airplane or taking the train. If you should go shopping for tires at Wallmart just look at the brands for quality then check the internet for tread type and price. The stores don't stock all the tires they sell and the internet price can be lower than the tires stocked in the store.
