That really does give the car a totally different, more aggressive 'stealth' look. Never been a great fan of the Dame Edna* chrome look, though it is less obvious on lighter bodied cars.
*I also own a DE 9.5 and have got accustomed to the front.
Just noticed have your yellowed the spots?
I have used Plasti-dip on my 99 bumpers and it has worked surprisingly well.

Yes my intent was to tone down the chrome to get a sportier or stealthier look as you put it. I like the over all front end design of the 2006-09 cars but thought that the chrome overpowered the look with the dark colours such as mine, not so bad with the lighter colours.
Plasti-dip has a black&blue colour which I thought would be good with the nocturne blue on my car. So I tried it.
One added benefit of painting the trim was that it seems to make the nose of the car and the car overall look shorter somehow which I think is a good thing.
Yes the fogs have a yellow film applied. It is made by Lamin-x.

It certainly works well on darker cars. I recently seen a silver car with the same treatment and to be honest it was not a good look.
I am contemplating a satin chrome finish (like the Hirsch ones) which might make them less noticeable.
