Spark Plug Help - 2004 9-5 ARC
Hello There,
New to this board. Have read the faqs and researched the many posts, but have a question about a specific spark plug for my 2004 9-5 ARC 2.3T turbo.
The manual says to use: NGKPFR 6H-10
Many of the posts on the forum say to use: NGK BCPR 6H-11
The NGK Site has several listed one of which is the BCPR6EIx-11 which is the only NGK plugs I can find locally (at least today) that are listed as fitting this car.
Can anyone comment if these plugs are OK to use and if so, why would the manual say PFR 6h-10.
Thanks

The BCPR6ES is the right plug for your 2.3T B235L engine. The PFR 6H-10 can be used as well and these should last quite a bit longer. However, they are usually only used in the Aero engine (B235R) and cost 5 times more.
Not sure if the BCPR6EIx-11 Iridium plugs would be good plugs to use but I would use the regular BCPR6ES.

Thanks Wulf. Guess I'll have to order them and wait till they arrive to do the work.

@Wulf
Seeing as though this was a spark plug thread, I will use it
Can a 9-5 Aero also use the BCPR7ES-11 plugs? heard a lot of people run these as an alternative to the PFR6H-10

Saab says those are for the B235E BioPower engine. I read many people use them in their Aero because they are 1/4 the price of the platinum plugs. But the platinum plugs last longer. I replaced mine after 60K miles and the tips still looked like new.
I am sure the other plugs will work but I don't mind paying a bit more to get the recommended plugs.

The Iridium tips last alot longer than platinum tips, also the Iridium plugs have a platinum coated ground electrode, so that also is more durable.
I installed these this year, and expect them to outlast the rest of the car (2000 9-5) without ever regapping.
