    Rethread Timing Chain Tensioner Insert

    GM SW,

    I need to rethread my head as I cross threaded the timing chain tensioner insert when I changed it.
    Does anyone know what tools I need to purchase to rethread it properly?

    Thank you,

    Mario

    Get a Heli-Coil thread repair kit and you get everything you need. Best to bring the bolt with as half the people selling them don't know what they are.

    A right angle drill will make the job easier and will come in handy for many other little jobs.

    @Digger

    Which size for the timing chain tensioner?
    I see several listed on ebay.
    I guess I can bring the tensioner into a brick and mortar?

    If I had the thing in my hands I would have to go out to the garage and measure it for size and pitch. You can't depend on the size of the socket you use to move it to give you the size of the thread underneath.
    I've been to Wausau and you may not be able to get what you need at your local hardware store, but they do have gage sets and if they can't get one for you, you be able to find out what you need to get. Like they say in their adds, Ace is the place.

    Digger,

    If you swing back through, message me, I'd be glad to buy you Starbucks or a meal and chat it up!

    Take Care,

    Mario
