2000 95 Aero front struts
Hi,
I am looking for new front struts for 95 2000 aero. It looks like I will have to from order overseas (hard to get in Aus.)
The current struts on the car are SACHS with the following numbers: 82 4904 553 248 and 45 66 634.
When looking what numbers should I be using to match for my car?
I ordered a pair earlier in the year from the net. I did inquire the supplier and replied they were for my car. When I replaced them they made a clunk over bumps, I found out they were the standard struts not the sports struts (they were KYB 335921). I put the old struts back on and have replaced the strut mounts and the bearings..(sorry forgot the name of it!!)
thanks Clayton

My 2001 9-5 Aero has KYB 335921 in the front and KYB Excel G in rear. As far as I know, SACHS are the standard suspensions

Thanks for reply AeroV,
Interesting I managed to get hold of KYB Australia, they mentioned the KYB 335921 were for standard suspension, not the aero sports suspension that I have.
When I have searched KYB 335921 I have seem to be for standard suspension. I have searched SACHs for Aero and the number looks like it is now 553680. I am happy to buy SACHS or KYB but just don't purchase the wrong struts again.

What brand were your original suspensions? I think suspensions are different from 98-01, 02-05 and 06-10 with many suspension codes. Also, are you 100% it's an Aero? (I'm sure you know your car, but just to clarify). Because it make sense for KYB s to hit if the spring size is different

I believe I still have the originals on the front , SACHs 45 66 634 ( I have seen they were on the 95 aero's on the 2000 model). I checked the plate in the engine bay, it was built in 2000 as I looked up the VIN number. It is a B235R motor which I believe is the aero model. It does appear to have lower suspension and the aero badges are on the side front panels, plus when I put on sport mode on it "fly's" !!.
When I took the SACH struts out , while fully extended they appeared the same length (maybe a bit shorter) as the KYB 335921. When I compressed each the KYB seemed to not compress as much (eg was longer when compressed compared to the original SACHS). I thought that may have been due to age and wear and tear, but as mentioned above the KYB clunked going over bumps . I have replaced the upper strut bearing and the ring. I put the SACHS back in and clunking went away.
