New clicking/rattling sound

For my 2001 9-5 4-cylinder

I ended up on some bumpy back roads last weekend, and afterwards I started noticing a rattling/clicking sound, that seems to be coming from around the power steering or water pump.

I'm curious if there is a simple fix that I can do myself. Any ideas?

I would take a long hollow pipe, put it to your ear and try to pinpoint the origin of the noise (like a stethoscope).

It sounds to me like a worn cam chain knocking around. The sound should be coming out of the middle left of the engine. It could be the lifters as well but I think the sound would be more regular. I had that, chain chewed away the oil passageway in the engine cover!
