    Will 2001 9-3 Viggen seats swap into a 2000 9-5 Aero Wagon?

Hi all. I'm looking for front seat alternatives for my 2000 Saab Aero Wagon. The seats have zero lateral support. I like the looks of the 2001 9-3 Viggen seats I just looked at, despite the worn through bolsters, but want to be sure they will fit before I buy. If not, is there another Recaro-ish option?
    Thanks for any help!

What about the 9-5 Aero sport seats? Very comfortable and still regarded one of the best Saab seats. Good lateral support as well.

Thanks for the pic. I think those are what I have, but flatter.... If not, I'll look around for some of those. I did like the deeper bolsters on the Viggen ones I looked at but they were getting a little tired. Thanks again!

The 2000 9-5 Aero didn't have the sport seats like the later models. Your Aero has the basic seats that were used for the Linear and Arc models as well. The Aero got the new sport seats shown in the above picture for model year 2002.

I have had the basic seats in previous 9-5s and, even though they are comfortable, they hardly provide lateral support.

Yeah, those are the ones I have. They're terrible. I've sat in old VW bugs that had firmer seats. :-)

So, does anyone know if the later model Aero seats will fit in a 2000 Aero? Nothing goofy with the airbags, HAL the computer, seat rails, etc.?

like lots of you will know, the main change is coming in 2002 the new 9-5 have a new two stage airbag this mean a new sensor on the interior slide rail.
measuring the distance between steering wheel and the seat.
be careful to don't do ancient -> new or you have big issues with Airbags (nothing can be fix it ) maybe to new-> ancient working ask to a Saab tech who's know perfectly this kind of problem.

Thanks for the info. You're saying it's OK (easier) to downgrade your seats (to an earlier model year) than it is to try to put newer seats into an older model, and 2002 seems to be the line of demarcation for that, correct?

2002 and later 9-5s used a two stage air bag unit. The earlier cars just had a single stage. It is fine to put 02 and later (03,04,05etc...) seats into earlier cars. But not the other way around. The airbags will not deploy properly if you get into an accident, and may cause an SRS light on your gauge cluster.

If your car is 2002 or older, you can use any seat you like from the OG9-5 Chassis.

Fine you have answered to the main question with a proper manner i don't even know if it fits the older MY. Sounds good !! Thanks again
CAUTION IN ANY CASE NEVER PUT CURRENT ON IN ANY PARTS OF SRS SYSTEM THIS INCLUDE SEATS PLUGS OR STEERING WHEEL could be explode !!!!
and the light or system could be not fixed without TECH II at Saab (not possible with any reader or other system of other car brands ) for avoiding a non specialist to misfire accidentally the airbag.
