OK. I'm finally getting around to doing my alternator in my 2000 Aero. Trick is, I need to pull the one from my parts car and use it. I'm stuck at the 'removing the tensioner assembly' step. Is there only one bolt for that assembly, the one that runs through the pulley? I've removed that and the assembly isn't budging. Is the top retaining bolt on the alternator holding it on? If so, I can't seem to get access to it either with the tensioner in the free position or in the pinned position. I've watched all the YouTube vids and all of them are a bit hazy in this area. Thanks for any advice/tips!

Thanks, yes I was reading these instructions last night as well as watching the videos on YouTube. I have removed the bolt for the tensioner but I can't seem to remove the tensioner itself. It feels as if it's attached still. I tried prying on it a bit but didn't want to break anything. It appears that I need to remove the tensioner to access the upper alternator bolt. So, back to the original question, is there only one bolt associated with the tensioner? And, if I remove that bolt, I should be able to remove the tensioner, correct? Thanks again for any help!

Ummmmmm....nevermind. Total brainfart I took the pulley off of the tensioner and NOT the bolt through the tensioner. I need a beer.

Welp, finally got around to changing the alternator out in the Saab. Fortunately it was only 101 F yesterday :-). The removal on the second car went much faster. Installation wasn't too bad. Hopefully all is well. When I removed the old one off of the good car, there was a ton of oily sludge on it and that side of the engine. Hopefully it's not some sort of catastrophic type leak. It was too gunky to tell where it was coming from. Also a bit of belt shavings. Couldn't tell if they were from this belt or a previous one. Time will tell, I guess. Thanks to all for the help and directions!
