'04 SAAB 9-3 Aero 2.0T EML and misfire.
Hi all,
My Aero 2.0T idled roughly this morning and the EML light came on, the car ran fine after the rough start but the EML stayed on. Once I got home I disconnected the battery for a minute or two, when I reconnected the battery and started the car, the EML light was off and the car idled perfectly! I have the Torque pro app on my phone and checked for codes, there weren't any. If it happens again. What codes should I keep my eye out for?
Any help / advice would be most welcome.
Regards,
chalpkin.

If you checked for codes while the check engine light was on and no codes were found before you pulled the battery cable, you're looking at a confused engine controller and sometimes these things get confused. Like the computer you used to post this message, pulling the power plug fixes a lot of odd problems that just happen and pulling the battery cable might be a good long term fix for something that might not happen again anytime soon. If it does happen again and again; and it comes without codes. Before you run off to get a new engine controller look to the battery for voltage, the cables for connection and then the alternator. A weak diode in the regulator will give you a ripple on the DC power that can cause an engine controller to look like a problem.
As to what codes to look for, if you pulled the battery cable before you looked for codes, you wouldn't be the first. Even the pros sometimes forget to check codes first and it could be any one of a dozen things.

Yeah, stupid me disconnected the battery before trying to read the codes! So I'll have to wait and see if it happens again, if it does, I'll read the codes BEFORE I disconnect the battery and see what I get!
