06 9-5 and the dreaded CEL P0300 have ??
Hi all,
bought a 06 with 98,000 miles a month ago. The gas gauge was not working and previous owner stated it stopped working after they replaced fuel pump in 11/16. They gave me receipt for fuel pump and come to find out it was a cheap pro part pump. Previous owner also stated they changed the plugs in 12/16 but don't know for sure. Fast foreword to today the car started missing out of the blue then the CEL threw the P0300 code. Question is what do I check first? DIC, plugs, or could it be the fuel pump failing?
thanks
brad

My fist observation is that the previous owner did not know too much about Saabs. That said I would pull the DIC out and see if it is oem (Wells) or a junk unit. Then I would check the plugs. He likely put in cheap units and not the NKGs. If that all looks good look around the hoses in front of the dipstick for cracks and leaks which is often the case if you notice a performance decline as you have. If the hoses are good you likely have a bad DIC which seem to have doubled in price lately. You want the Wells brand. I dont know if a fuel pump will toss the 0300 code. As it is so easy I would also clean the MAF with a MAF spray cleaner first before ordering a new DIC.
If you get a non Wells DIC look for the long warranty. Most of them fail pretty quickly.
