    Analogue audio from CD changer

More complete answer, the CD Changer communicates via a data bus and any changer you use must use the same communication method. Most CD Changers use a data bus to communicate control signals to and from the head unit but convert the output to analogue before sending it to the head unit. The Saab unit sends the audio via the data bus too so the vast majority of changers won't have a suitable output to drive the Saab head unit. The Yatour will have been designed to mimic a standard CD Changer.
Actually, the audio feed from the changer to the HU is analogue, and appears to use unbalanced signals like any domestic CD player. I have hijacked the audio input to the changer plug in the back of the HU and connected it to a switched 3.5mm stereo jack socket, to run my MP3 player through it.

As long as the changer is selected and there is a CD running constantly in it, the audio connection is "live".
Unplug the player and the CD plays as normal.

Volume is a little lower than with other inputs because the changer is outputting more than the earphone connection of the MP3 player, but there are boost controls on the player that compensate to a fair degree, and lots of watts available.

This, sir, is GENIUS!!! I'd move for it to be stickied. Is there any way you could do a kind of tutorial with pictures and stuff like that? If not it's fine, I'm sure I can poke around and find it, but I think others who are looking for a solution to this problem might find this to be absolute gold!

It does depend on the head unit, the earlier, Pre-DE, head unit does not have analogue audio in from the CD changer, my 2008 DE Aero had the CD changer in the head unit.

Definitely hear that. Thankfully, in my case, I've an 08 SportCombi (Aero if that makes a difference) with the Denso nav unit and cd changer in the trunk. This very well may be my weekend project, though I do need to do other things like the serpentine belt and pulley, or the valve cover gasket, or an oil change, or Chang my front tires... Lol!!!

    It all depends...

Indeed - I can only speak for the Denso trunk-mounted changer in the DE models (as that is what I have).

I should have kept a photo record of what I did, but I was pretty much experimenting and it could all have come to nothing so I just went with my instincts and available evidence, and it happened to work. One day I shall just pull it apart for the fun of it, and video the lot, but at the moment I have an airbag fault, a blocked bathroom drain, a wedding reception, a brake disc replacement and a pension negotiation taking higher priorites.

I thought retirement was supposed to be fun.
