Saab 9-3, 2.0 - invalid coolant temperature walues

    Hello Everyone,

My friend has a Saab 9-3 (2.0 turbo, 2007, automaic transmission). She has trouble starting the engine. The engine starts mostly if she persses the accelerator. This usally happens in cold (below 5 C). The engine is not running smooth. The car in not in a garage. The outside temperature is about 0-5 at night.
The car was taken to a mechanic. He said that the engine cooolant temperature data from the sensor OK. But is he connects to the ECU, the temperature data are way lower, the computer "thinks" it is colder, thus adjusts the air/gasoline ratio way lower, resulting in the flooding of the engine.

Has anyone encountered this situation? What can cause the problem? Possible solutions?

    Thank you.

Get a cold compression test done, some of the 2007 model 2.0 suffered with a problem with the intake valves, this can also cause starting and running issues from cold.
