    2006 ABS Module

    Hi everyone,

I think my 06' 9-5 abs module is beginning to fail. The abs, brake, and tcs off lights have come on twice in the past week, but if I turn the car off and restart it they go away. I assume this means it's beginning to fail? The car just rolled over 150,000 miles and I know this is a common problem. My question is how to replace it? I know on earlier 9-5s it's very simple to remove the module and send it off to be re manufactured. However, I'm 99% sure the 06-09 9-5s have the module placed in a different location. If I'm not mistaken, I was just looking for it and I think it's behind the fuse box and not under it. Is it still possible to take it apart and have it re manufactured? I REALLY do NOT want to spend $1300 on a new unit. I'd rather drive without abs and tcs lol. I have looked extensively for any information on the 06-09 abs module and have found nothing. All information is greatly appreciated!

    All the best,

Is your speed gauge still working? The ABS module failing was a common problem in the 98-04 models so it seems youre just really unlucky. And yes, it can be saved but it depends on how long the faulty unit has been attached to the car. The problem is caused by the earthing points breaking down on the circut board, or at least thats what ive read. Fixing it shouldnt cost too much and there are people that fix them with ease. Probably have to take it out and ship the unit to the repairman if you dont have anyone who knows how to do it in town.

By careful who you use for module repair, I sent an ECM off to a company that wasn't surrounded by complaints when I found their online add. When I had a problem and started digging, I found that these people appear to operate under several business names. Company names change, 800 numbers change and before you send in a part, or give any financials, Google not only the name of the company, Google the name of the person you are dealing with and their direct contact number. Don't forget to Google the fax number too.

Thanks for the info, @Naizz yes my speed gauge is working properly. It is the original unit because I am the original owner of the car and I have never had an issue until recently.
Is BBA re manufacturing still a reputable business? That's who I was planning on sending it to.
Also, how do I remove the unit? Do I have to remove the entire module since they relocated the unit behind the fuse box?

    Cheers,

Here is a thorough guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kr67JEJDbgw and as Digger said, google is your friend when it comes to find a legit company.

Thanks for the link, however that's for the earlier model 9-5s. They moved the module on the 06-09 cars behind the fuse box. I wish it were that easy haha.

The best course of action, pending any better answers, may be to contact BBA reman and see if they do the 2006 version.

If not, maybe they know someone?

UPDATE: The lights didn't come on for about 9 days, but for the past 3 days they have been coming on every morning when I start the car. However, they still go away if I restart it. My scanner cannot read stored codes unfortunately. I did plug it in when the lights came on, but it didn't find any faults/codes. But I'm 95% sure it's the module. I also noticed the speedo doesn't function when the trio of lights (abs, brake, tcs off) come on. Do the 06-09 9-5s have the Bosch 5.3 unit?

    All the best,

Hey AdmiralCrisp, I went ahead and jumped into searching things out for you. Mainly because I got high.

I pulled out the EPC I installed on an old laptop. After trying to find the ABS in many different regions of the EPC I found the part number for the 2006-2007 ESP. It's Saab part number 93185388. That is different from the 2002-2005 Saabs, with part numbers of 5390091 and 5233911.

It seems to be a Bosch part, as an hour of switching between two laptops and googling seems to have revealed. The Bosch part number is 0265234431.

BBA reman does service on Bosch 5.3, 5.4, and 5.7s. I'm not sure whether the 0265234431 is any of those models. You can take this information and find out.

I'd recommend again contacting bba-reman directly and see if they service 2006 ABS part. If not, a person at cheapabs.com may be able to accommodate your needs as it says, "Any module that looks like this one can be repaired, regardless of part number."

Finally, there are a few "cheap" and used ABS's to purchase from ebay.co.uk: 1 and 2. However, those may not work or may work for a short period of time. Caveat Emptor.
