Base rumble out of rear deck

I have a newly acquired 2003 Saab 9-3 Vector, love the car. Although I had to disconnect the 6x9 speakers on the back deck cause they just rumble bass. It has the ICM2 with the 13 speakers. If I disconnect the connector to the amp in under the rear deck there are what looks like two fiber optic connections and the number 1 is lighting up but 2 is not. Is number 2 the output?

I've seen a lot of posts of the amp under the driver seat going bad, but the symptoms for that failure do not fit what I am experiencing at all.

Hope someone has figured out what causes this and can help. Thanks in advance.

The fibre optic is a ring bus, so you can not leave these two ends disconnected.

The only function of the rear amp (AMP2) is to provide bass for the two 6x9 bass speakers on the parcel shelf, see: http://saabworld.net/showthread.php?t=25259

13 speakers means you have the Prestige 300 sound system, and I guess your bass speakers are probably shot. After all they're 14 years old now and were not the best quality to begin with...

I figured speakers too, tried to swap them out and I get the same thing.
