2002 Saab 9-3 CV Axle Replacement/Control Arm removal
Good Evening,
Does SW have an alternate tutorial on removing the control arm with the CV Axle in still? The one thats on here is for 2003+
Im trying to replace my CV axles and cant get the CV axle out nor the control arm.
Even if I had a fork, the CV axle is still in the way.
@Digger are you around?
Thanks,
Mario

Sledge hammer and torch, sometimes it's the only thing that works and every so often this isn't enough. Figure on new bearing if it doesn't pop free and complete steering knuckle if heating axel spleen isn't enough to help break the rust free. Fifteen years old and if it's the first time apart it might not come apart.
Start by turning your axel nut so the outside end is pointing in and turn it down to flush with the axel end. Turn your steering wheel to lock left or right depending on your best swing (DO NOT DO THIS WITH THE WHEELS STREIGHT, YOU COULD BUST THE TRANNY) and give it your best two or three shots. If that doesn't free it, heat the Hell out of the spleen and do it again. If that doesn't free it, heat the spleen until it and the bearing end are glowing red, dowse it with cold water do it again. If it hasn't come free by now, use what gas is left in your torch to cut the ball joint free from the steering knuckle, get yourself a new ball joint and replace the whole darn thing with a good used knuckle, bearing, ABS and all.

UPDATE:
I wasn't smacking the right place for the control arm to drop out. I needed to hit above the control arm, on the Coil Spring Strut Assembly. Then it popped right out. You might need to hit it really hard, depending on how long it's been in there/amount of rust that's been built up.
Also, this was on a whole new front end, and it surprised how hard I had to hit it to break it loose.
