Did Saab ever offer factory phone on their 9 5 series pre '05?

Just wondering if Saab ever offered factory phone on their 9 5 series before '05 models , thank you.

All that was offered post 05 was a microphone and a connection to the audio system to mute the source and route the phone audio to the speakers, three wires from memory plus power and ground.

My 1999 estate had a square Nokia box mounted under the dash on passenger side and the receiver were mounted on center part of the dash. I removed it but im re-using receiver mount for my phone holder.

That was probably added by a previous owner, the binnacle was a genuine Saab accessory, and a pain to fit.
You should be able to trace a cable back from there to a point behind the head unit.

A little research finds that this was a car phone not, as is common today, an interface for a mobile phone so it will have had a handset with a keypad. Below is a diagram of the parts of the Nokia Car Telephone.

This was most likely dealer installed or fitted by a specialist but I doubt it was a factory fit.

Yea, i agree with you it being fit later. Maybe one of the previous owners did it themselves or the dealer did it as it was really ugly install. Self tapping screws and broken tabs on the center console plastics.

Sounds more like a previous owner. I always fitted accessories so that they could be removed later with absolutely no sign that they had ever been there. Obviously this person wasn't of the same mind!

Everything on my car has been "repaired" really half assed or the broken part is just removed (rear wiper pump, ac compressor etc). Frustrating but i will sort it out. I found from google that the VAG/VW used the same Nokia phone in their cars.
