My Saab 9-3 2006 key recognition problem
Hello everyone,
My car has been in the shop of my mechanic since this Monday because they can not figure out why the SID states it can not recognize my key.
Last week my battery died and when I used my manual key to get into the car and inserted the key with what little power my battery had said it did not recognize my key.
I had my battery replaced and my mechanic ran a full diagnostic on the car and still can not find out what the problem is.
My question is the cost to trouble shoot this problem going to be more expensive than the car is worth.
I currently have over 200,000 miles at this time.
Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Need a little more detail to help narrow down the solution. So here are a couple of things you can try and a couple questions to answer if they don't get you going.
Pull the battery cable and leave it off until every bit of memory on the BUS goes away. While you're waiting a good 10 minutes, make sure the battery is fully charged and if not don't reconnect until it is. When you do reconnect push the transponder into the switch and push a little harder to make sure it goes in as far as it can go, do this a couple of times and listen for the snap of your steering lock, don't try to turn it until you've heard the thing snap good twice in a row.
Did you try the second key?
What kind of equipment is your mechanic using to diagnose the car?

maybe a silly question but after an issue like that you don't have to click few times on the fob for reconnected the key with the system ? seems having reading 5 times ?

The big transponder fob works a little bit different than the key, but not a silly question. After a low to no power issue that won't now accept the key, when you do finally get it to accept the key, you need to do the same thing with the second key and when you do get the car started, you might even need to do the strange driving to retrain the TCM to the ECU.
