Saab 9-5 NG Electrical system, fuses

Rather than complicate the Earth Points thread, here is some more information on the Electrical System.
The first thing to be aware of is that the fuse descriptions in the drivers handbook are less than complete. I have compared the information with that from WIS and I will offer the following cautions:
Fuse 16 listed as Vacuum pump. Actually also covers the air quality sensor and water in fuel sensors
Fuse 21 listed as windows rear. WIS says Window motors front, be wary if you are working on the windows
Fuse 25 listed as Power outlets. This fuse appears to supply an accessory AC/DC power control module
Fuse 29 listed as Left power seat. WIS shows this as supplying the lumbar support, at 15A I would think the handbook is right but again be wary if working on the seats
Fuse 30 listed as Right power seat. WIS shows this as supplying the lumbar support
Fuse 52 listed as Ignition. WIS shows this Instrument cluster
Fuse 53 listed as ventilated front seats. WIS shows this as also covering Headlamp levelling actuators, inside rear view mirror and Tyre pressure module
Fuse 54 listed as Ignition. Actually the headlamp switch
Fuse 57 listed as Ignition. Steering lock control module
Fuse 60/61 listed as mirror heating, on my car it is not possible to fit two fuses in these positions, there are three holes but only two have terminals so the fuse is fitted in that position. Further information/photographs appreciated with vehicle details, especially the year.
Fuse 63 listed as Body control module. Glass breakage sensor

If you are working on a NG9-5 be particularly wary of the electrical system as the information supplied in both the handbook and WIS must be considered suspect until it can be confirmed. Anyone who doesn't have a copy of WIS is strongly advised to obtain a copy. If you don't know how to read a wiring diagram don't hesitate to ask.

Found out the drivers seat is not working and checked the 15A fuse 29 on the engine compartment - blown. Replaced the fuse, still not working. Also taking the car to the carwash right after to find out that the side mirror adjustment and folding are not working either.

    Anyone with a solution?

Answering to my self, now that I have solved the problem. (Finally). The fuse 29 was indeed (as suggested in the original post) for the electrically adjustable lumbar support. That one seems to work now.

What I also found out, is that the heat ventilation and seat heater buttons at the dash also do not function at all.

From the glimpse of WIS I see that all these missing functionalities are behind the seat control module, which is under the left seat

The solution was to replace 5A fuse 19 in the fusebox by the driver's left knee (LHD). The fuse looked OK, but measured broken.

Now all of the above work again

    Hi... GeoffR/all
Ive blown a fuse changing the glovebox light, which is also effecting the in-cabin on/off lights (not coutersey) and the vanity mirror lights. Do you know what fuse box and fuse number is related, so I can change?
    Cheers Daz

Leave it with me and I will have a look, I might be a while as my WIS/EPC computer only has a 10" screen.

The lights mentioned are all controlled from the Body Control Module, WIS doesn't make it easy to determine which fuse/s supply the power that the module switches but there are two fuses in the Underbonnet fuse panel for the Body Control Module, one is 20A, which is unlikely to be the one and a 5A which is a possibility. This is F69UA or, if you are using the handbook diagram, fuse 69.

Checked what I thought were all the relevant fuses etc and replaced the rear light bulb, but still no joy. I took it a long to My Auto Services in Reading (http://www.myautoservices.co.uk/) where Moss repaired the push-fit connection on the rear right LED light cluster (this appears to be a common fault) and replaced fuse no.2 (glovebox fuse box) which fed the Body Control Module (BCM) responsible for this part of the lighting system. The BCM then needed a system restart using a specialised software tool, which in turn restarted that part of the lighting system and all now appears to be working again. Apparently, this design and type of fault is common on a lot of the newer MY17/18 cars, which just proves Saab were way ahead of its time! Hope my story helps.
