    Reverse lights not working

So I noticed a few days ago that neither of my reverse lights worked. I changed the bulbs and the fuse, and ive checked the electrical harness for damage. No luck and no luck. Any idea what might be causing the problem?

Stick or automatic makes a difference on what the switch looks like and where it is mounted, but a switch is still a switch, check the switch.

Its a manual. Any idea where the switch is in the engine room? Cant seem to find a picture of it on google. Or maybe im just bad at googling.

edit: so its in the transmission housing and not in the engine room?

Switch is back side of transmission and you will need to remove left front tire to check the plug connection and replace switch if needed.

Thanks. Do you know if it should give out any fault codes if its faulty? All im getting is the "brake light failure" error message. Think i'll check the harness one more time before starting to look for the switch.

The automatic transmission has a different switch, it's up top and part of the big transmission position switch and reverse lights also feed through another module. Is your problem no lights, or no lights and a code?

    larryE8778,
On my 2000 9-5, this automatic transmission position sensor switch (Neutral Safety Switch) is between the transmission and the battery. When I replaced mine, I had to remove both the battery and the battery tray under that.

On the ten pin connector, I think pins 1&10 are for Neutral/Park signalling and the next pair 2&9 are for Reverse signalling. Maybe visa-versa.

If the pins don't become shorted in the appropriate position, then there is a failure.
