2004 9-5 not starting
I drive a 2004 9-5 ARC 2.3T
A few weeks ago I got an error code p1334. I continued to drive the car until I had the money to fix it.
So I changed the spark plugs which I bought from Auto Zone and I decided to replace the DIC which I purchased from eEuroparts.com
Now the car won't start
I pulled the spark plugs to check the gap which is correct.
I put the old DIC back in and it still won't start.
I'm at a loss any help is greatly appreciated.
I check all fuses

Is the connector plugged in correctly? Is the red sliding part pushed in all the way? Was any of the wiring damaged when you replaced the DIC?
Just a few thoughts, have to start with the basics.

That connection is good. I should mention at the same time I replaced the plugs and DIC I had to replace the coolant bypass valve as it was leaking. I had to disconnect the electrical connection on the firewall to get to it. Is it possible this is where the problem is?
every once in a while the car will start and run for a second and die
I was very careful when disconnection the necessary vacuum hoses in order to get to the coolant valve to remember where they go. If I did reattach them to the wrong ports it wouldn't keep the car from starting would it? It would start and then just run rough wouldn't it?
I'm really just grasping at straws hereLast edited by jamkjhlove; 02 November 2017 at 02:16.

I know changing the DIC and plugs seems straightforward, but did you follow the video that Eeuroparts had on their site for changing the DIC to a tee? The reason I ask is to clarify every step you made. Did you try putting the old plugs back in?

So I reinstalled the old plugs and the old DIC same result will not light off I tried old plugs and new DIC and that was a no go. This has to be electrical as I mentioned before at the same time I was replacing the plugs and DIC I was also replacing the coolant bypass valve. To do so I had to disconnect and move this wire bundle in order to get to the valve. Is it possible I damaged or disconnected something here while I was disconnecting and reconnecting this bundle?

I checked the vacuum hoses and decided while I was there I would just replace them all and I used the diagram as reference
Still won't start.
Is it possible the ECU isn't recognizing the new DIC after having the negative battery cable disconnected during repairs?
Maybe the guy at Auto zone sold me the wrong plugs? I checked all the gaps which were within Saab specs

What spark plugs did you buy? Autolite? Only use the correct NGK plugs for your engine: BCPR6ES or PFR6H10
Don't trust the parts guy at Autozone when asking for spark plugs for your Saab.
What's the brand DIC you purchased?
Is there a CEL? Or perhaps OBD2 codes that didn't trigger a CEL?

If the engine was running fine with the old spark plugs and DIC and you put those back in and it still won't start, it is likely the DIC and the spark plugs are not the problem. But then again, while the old DIC was still fine when you took it out, it may have died as well.
When you search for Saab 9-5 and Proparts DIC, you'll find many forum posts about them failing within a year. Some appear to be remanufactured parts. These are inexpensive Chinese reproduction parts and they don't have a reputation of great quality and reliability.
As mentioned, only use the NGK plugs. But another brand plugs shouldn't prevent the engine from starting, I think.
So... what I would do is return the spark plugs and DIC. Not sure if you can, I don't think eEuro accepts return of electrical/ignition parts. But there may be a possibility the DIC is just faulty.
Are the spark plugs installed correctly? I am not sure how familiar you are with car maintenance/repair so I have to ask the stupid questions. If they are not tightened correctly using the compression washers (not sure of your AC Delco plugs have these), the engine may not get enough compression in the cylinders.
