    code P0638 on '04 Saab 9 3 arc?

    I have been having problem with bad cell battery , and just replaced it with a brand new one (interstate ) and now the car won't even start , can someone help please , and on the OBD scanner it shows code P0638 . Thank you

    The 638 code means that you have a throttle position fault so I'm guessing that the car is cranking and not starting. Un hook the battery, count to ten and put it back on. Sometimes the multiple power spikes as you set the negative cable can confuse things and a do over is the best thing to do.

    When it's working, the throttle body opens and closes full travel when the key is turned to on and the ECM reads the action and the position of the foot feed and it decides if everything is where it needs to be. Half a dozen things can cause this fault, so start with the easiest fix and if reseating the ground cable doesn't get this fixed, pull the big hose off the throttle body and look to see if the butterfly goes full open to full close when you first turn the key to on.
