Help replacing clutch on 2002 9-3. Locking pin broke and fell into tranny.

While removing my transmission to change the clutch I broke the locking pin that you use to hold the transmission in gear. Part of it fell into the transmission. Is there an easy way to get the broken piece out without having to tear the whole transmission apart? I took the end cover off hoping I could get to it through there.... no luck. If I remove the clutch housing will all #%& break loose and springs and ball bearings go shooting into orbit?

Unless your 15 year old tranny is holding itself together by will power, things shouldn't go flying into orbit when you pull the housing. Firm but gentle when pulling apart, rubber mallet tapping pulling sort of stuff. Don't loose your temper and brute force it.

Is possible to get piece out without pulling tranny apart, if you get real lucky it might be quicker, but without a stand you risk breaking the tranny and hurting yourself.
