Coolant Temperature Sensor, Crankshaft position sensor, or software?

My quick fix is simply to press down the gas pedal after 2 or 3 warm restart stalls. Works every time.

So Digger, after your most recent comments I decided to have my MAS cleaned and took the 9-3 to Meineke today. Without the 9-3 throwing any codes I was told the MAS did not need cleaning even after I offered to pay for a cleaning. When the throttle body was cleaned BG 44K Fuel System Cleaner was added. Even though I have Seafoam ready to use I will wait to add it since the BG cleaner is already in the system. The mechanic at Meineke does not feel that there are any mechanical issues with my 9-3 at this time. Upon arriving home to see if the BG cleaner had made a difference I reinstalled the Maptun stage 1 with an attempt to restart the car 25 minutes after I parked it in the garage. My 9-3 stalled twice, but did not stall on the third attempt. Whereupon I immediately reinstalled the Saab backup software. Five minutes later there was no problem starting the car and there have been no problems this morning before reinstalling the Maptun stage 1. Incredible!

Yesterday I went back to my mechanic and asked him to clean my mass air sensor. He check my 9-3 and told me it was unnecessary. He could find no problems and I left without any charge for service since nothing was done. I also have had a fuel system cleaner placed by the mechanic in the car 3 weeks ago to see if that would help. Upon arriving and parking in my garage I immediately reinstalled the Maptun stage 1 tune. 25 minutes after parking the car with the stage 1 tune I attempted to restart my 9-3. With my foot on the brake the 9-3 started and immediately stalled. This happened twice. On the third attempt my 9-3 started without stalling. I then reinstalled my backup software, 55574380. The original software, 55566778, would not restart in this situation without me depressing the gas pedal. I then ran some errands and upon returning and parking again in my garage I started my stop watch. After 25 minutes I then restarted my 9-3 again with my foot on the brake. The 9-3 hesitated, dropped the rpms to 500 and then recovered without stalling with no further problems. This has been my experience. The stage 1 tune is better than the original Saab software but still stalls. The hotter the weather the worse the problem is. But, the 55574380 software does not stall even if there is a hesitation with restarting. There never is a problem with cold starts with any of the 3 tunes.

So, why does the stage 1 stall when the 55574380 does not?

The car a saab 9-3 2.0 turbo of the year 2004 with 175 hp does not start when it is hot, above 90º Celsius. If you have it 15 minutes and turn it off, it starts like when is cool, but if it is 30 minutes it will not start. By the way if you wait 10 minutes with the car off and you try to start it, it starts perfectly.
I have changed it:
1.- Spark plugs
2.- Crankshaft position sensor
3.- Coolant temperature sensor
4.- Coils
5.- Injectors
6.- Mass Air Flow sensor
7.- Injection Module
The battery is new and after circulating with the car 30 minutes is at 12.4v.
Since I changed the injectors and the mass air flow sensor, the car starts 1 second and immediately turns off. Before I just tried to boot and nothing.
I check all the relays in the engine bay putting 12v on (-)85 and (+)86 and test no resistance between 87 and 30.
Please any idea???

Looks like a good list of parts not to throw at this problem. I think he means 90 degrees Fahrenheit, since 100 degrees C as I remember is boiling.
I did my stop watch again today for 25 minutes. With 55574380 my 9-3 started, then stumbled with the rpms going to 750 and then coming back without further problems. Temperature currently is 71 degrees Fahrenheit and I had been driving for about 15 minutes before parking.

My 2009 93 2.0 sedan does exactly what you describe. I changed the crank position sensor based on what I had read in another forum, but still have the problem. I was wondering if your issue was ever resolved and what was the cause. Thank you.

Maptun did an update on my stage 1 software which fixed the problem. No stalls. Make sure your Saab software is up to date. 55574380 is the most recent for the 2008 9-3 SS. I have had no problems with my wife's BSR stage 1 tune. The fix is a software update or reinstall.
